EASy IVC/PDA
Pre-Induction Optimization Protocol
EASy IVC/PDA combines IVC assessment with the hemodynamic cluster framework to guide pre-induction optimization of critically ill patients. This protocol integrates the PDA airway risk assessment with targeted volume and vasopressor management.
Protocol Components
IVC diameter measurement (2cm from RA junction)
IVC collapsibility index calculation
Hemodynamic cluster identification (1-4)
Pre-induction fluid optimization targets
Vasopressor/inotrope recommendations by cluster
Post-induction reassessment protocol
IVC-Guided Optimization
Small (<1.5cm), collapsing
Volume resuscitate before induction
High risk of post-induction hypotension
Normal (1.5-2.5cm), partial collapse
Small fluid bolus, prepare vasopressor
Moderate risk
Plethoric (>2.5cm), no collapse
Avoid fluid, assess RV/LV function
May indicate cardiogenic or obstructive cause
